ELECTRONIC PRESCRIPTION SERVICE Posted or Updated on 8 Jul 2022

We are getting a number of queries regarding electronic prescriptions, namely patients who are adamant that they have NOT nominated a pharmacy for scripts to be sent to automatically.

If your record at the surgery shows a nominated pharmacy then at some point that particular pharmacy HAS added you as a customer & that you have agreed to use them for electronic prescriptions.

'EPS2' has been in existence for pharmacies for a number of years, & pharmacies have been signing patients up for their prescriptions to go electronically to them, at the point that a GP surgery installs EPS2.

Pharmacies can accept verbal consent, so there may not be a record of you agreeing to nominate a particular pharmacy.

Unfortunately, the only way your record will show a nominated pharmacy is if that pharmacy has updated your records.  Up until the 12th May Dorridge Surgery could NOT add a nominated pharmacy.  Now we are live we can do this, however, we will ask for signed consent that we will copy onto youre records.  Ideally we would recommend you nominate direct with a pharmacy so they know you are a customer of theirs.

We would ask that you are patient with our reception team, as if they tell you your prescription has gone electronically & you dispute that, you will have to discuss the matter with that pharmacy - the surgery will NOT have added this to your record.
